Adam Lambert's performance/concert thing on Good Morning America was canceled. FTL, ABC.

Apparently, he's going to be on The Early Show on CBS instead. I don't know if that is a concert thing or what.

[info - livejournal.com] solar_cat, Leah and I are still going into NYC. Current plan is for both her and I to make protest signs and protest GMA.

Depending on TES, Leah may be with us, or watching Adam. (Or we might all three be watching Adam. IDK, I'm having trouble tracking ANYTHING down. Perez is my confirmation on him being on the Early Show, so far. I don't trust Perez).

Regardless, later on that day, we three will still be going to the Burton Exhibit at MOMA.

ANYWAY: I called 1-818-460-7477, (then 1 on first menu, 2 on second, 3 on the third and 466 for GMA extension) and left a message.

Everyone should do the same thing. There were about 1500 complaints for his AMA performance, let's double/triple those complaints for canceling his GMA appearance.

I'm sick of the double standard where if a women performer does the EXACT same routine, nothing is said, because male sexuality is the only type of sexuality that is appropriate or exists.

I am SO SICK OF THE FACT that anything that is designed to titillate the straight male gaze is fine, but the second something is designed to titillate the straight womens' gaze or the gay mens' gaze - it's sick and wrong.

FUCK THAT SHIT.

Fuck that shit SO HARD. My sexuality and the expression of it is no worse or better then a straight male's.

Fuck that puritanical attitude that someone's sexuality should be non-existent or repressed just because of his/her/zie/hirs gender or sexual orientation.

IN SHORT, call and complain and leave messages about ABC's decision. THEN, hit them where it really hurts and a) drop their ratings DOWN and b) boost The Early Shows ratings WAY up.

FOTW: Number 17 (all bandom, again) [Nov. 6th, 2009|09:16 pm]
[Tags|, , , , , ]

Apparently, my way of coping with procrastination involving nanowrimo is to write rec posts. I'm not quite sure how I feel about that, exactly. *ponders* Well, both are procrastination methods from other things *G*. And I have COMPLETELY given up on transitional phrases and other fun english type things.

So. There's eight recs here - 6 are panic at the disco, of which 4 are Ryan/spencer, one is brendon/ryan, one is brendon/shane. Two are bandom crossovers (MCR/Addams Family and Fall Out Boy/Buffy the vampire slayer).

The Spencer/Ryan ones:

1) Through All kinds of Weather by [info - livejournal.com] marksykins. So, Ryan and Jon are touring around as the Young veins, and Ryan starts feeling bad. So he does passive-aggressive tweets about being sick, and than he collapses! and ends up in the hospital! And then Spencer hijacks him and takes care of him. It's pretty damn marvelous! And I think everyone should read it.

2) Like the Tide by [info - livejournal.com] arsenicjade and [info - livejournal.com] untappedbeauty. This is an AU where Ryan and Spencer both end up in foster care. Spencer ends up being adopted when he's younger, but he manages to keep in touch with Ryan even while Ryan is being bounced around. Uhm. Don't want to say much more since y'all will be reading it to find out what happens, right? Cuz, guys, it is beyond awesome. I went to work on one hour of sleep, because I couldn't stop reading it. It's long (sooo long) and I'm going to go reread it as soon as I post this.

(ETA: a billion hours later - it's still awesome, and I have no self-control).

3) Set Our Watches Forward, Like We're Just Arriving Here by [info - livejournal.com] fictionalaspect. It's short - post-split, mostly it's a PWP, but the underlying emotions and whatnot are what really makes it. *G*

4) Like Yellow Does On Blue by [info - personal] lyo and [info - livejournal.com] stephanometra. This is from the [info] bandombigbang, so it's long. And awesome. It's always-a-girl!Spencer, and I love this Spencer. (I <3 tomboy!Spencer for forever) There's misunderstandings, angst and prom! I think the only quibble I had over it, as @sansets (eta: self, LJ/DW =/= twitter) [info - livejournal.com] sansets said is that the time period with regards to the whole Tarah thing. On the other hand, I don't really mind about that, so it's all awesome.

The Brendon/Ryan one:

5) For Other Meanings of Tsunami by [info - livejournal.com] jocondite (...I originally saved this to rec in June 08. Wow, I'm slow). There is oblivious dating, and Brendon being such a jerk to Ryan. Brendon starts to develop a crush on Ryan, and than half-stalks Ryan around asking him to be fuckbuddies. He thinks he's a GENIUS. This is the fic I go to when I want to laugh - it does the trick every single time. Especially part 1. (The conversation between Jon, Ryan, Spencer and Brendon is too awesome to miss). GO AND READ IT.

The Brendon/Shane one:

6) The Only Moment We Were Alone by [info - livejournal.com] worldofthorns. It's short, but really atmospheric! I loved the quality of the writing. *♥ it*

The Bandom Crossovers:

7) These Addams Men, Where Do You Find Them? (It Has To Be Damp) by [info - livejournal.com] zeplum. This is an MCR/Addams Family crossover, and it is awesome. Extremely awesome. Gerard and Mikey are Addams cousins, and they are weird because they are from the New Jersey branch (hee). It's not at all long, but it's brilliant.

8) And Away We Go by [info - livejournal.com] lovelypoet. This is a Fall Out Boy/Buffy the Vampire Slayer crossover. Basically, Xander's life is SO HARD once FOB released Sixteen Candles because half of the mini-slayers like Pete. There are shenanigans! This fic makes me laugh SO HARD.

I'm proud of myself. Since my mom has gone to Arizona, I haven't even ATTEMPTED to lock the little kids in a room. (This may possibly be because the doors with locks broke, lalalala)

On the other hand, we have locked my little brother outside of the house one night (Tuesday). Julie came home from her 5-7 class and went to get something from the freezer in the garage out for dinner Wednesday night. T hotboxed the damn garage, and there was so much smoke in it that, at first, she thought T had built a small bonfire.

He was nowhere to be found, so she just locked the doors - he came home once, she let him in and told him the doors were locked because of hoodlums. He left again, she relocked the doors and refused to let him in.

He did fix my bedroom door earlier that day (I had been asking him since the door broke, but he never remembered because he was high by the time I would see him to ask) because Julie got to him before he could smoke up.

Halloween was fun - I made a little kid cry. (Apparently, the grim reaper is really scary? IDK. I always thought zie was cool).

I got a perfect score (only one!) on my midterm. That pleased me. Am debating on NOT showing up tomorrow because I REALLY don't want to give a speech. It's only 5 points. Out of 200! It's not important. (Say No to Speeches).

One of my co-workers was no call, no show on Monday, so I suddenly have more hours. (And I got called in early on Monday, which was killer). See, Monday, I wasn't supposed to be in until the afternoon, so I stayed up until 3AM reading fic. The next thing I know, I'm getting a phone call at 6-something to be in at 9.

I also got hours added onto this Saturday. I was only supposed to work 6-10, now I'm working 6-1. DNW. But, uh, it gives me overtime unless someone notices?

And I have friday off, still, which is most excellent.

OH, and before I forget again - Rob called me out of nowhere last week. See, last year, he made dinner and whatnot for Valentines, so I said I'd make him dinner the week after.

He ended up not being able to come over, I didn't hear from him for a month, we had breakfast, then I didn't hear from him again.

Last Monday, he called and asked for the phone number to the pizza place up the street from me. I boggled at my phone a bit, gave him the info, hung up.

On Tuesday, Julie asked if I had heard any of the latest news about Rob. I commented that it was funny that she asked me that.

Turns out that Rob's ex-girlfriend (he dated a girl, Jen, whose cousin, gabbi, is friends with Julie) from before we started dating had a kid. Gabbi's mom posted a picture to facebook of father and son after posting a picture of her new nephew.

Facebook stalking - explaining why things have happened since forever.

Hmm. Most of the details for the concert have been worked out!

My mom agreed to drop me off at the train station (need to double check times, oi). I have train tickets!

[info - livejournal.com] sansets and [info - livejournal.com] kinetikatrue are going to pick me up from the Harrisburg train station, and we shall procede on our merry way to Hershey.

(So. I was told about this chocolate milk shake they have in Hershey - I will totes treat you two, if you consume chocolate).

I still have to iron out some of the details with a RL friend in regards to catching a ride home with her (She's going into Philly for her birthday - so I 90% have a ride all the way home at this point). ((Er, catch a ride home with her from the Woodcrest train station, that is).

Otoh, even if travel arrangements go wrong, I managed to convince Erica to switch shifts with me. I was supposed to open, and she was closing, but now that is swapped. Bonus? I just got an extra hour. FTW.

So, really, the only thing at this point is double checking with Marianne that she would be willing to give me a ride home. Which really shouldn't be a problem.

(Sadly, at this point, I don't care. I will figure something out LATER. Er. Most likely, I will take the train back to original train station and see if I can find someone to pick me up. Worse comes to worse, I go to the Atco train station and chill at [info - livejournal.com] thisisthesmile's house for a bit. Er. I should let her know about that part of the plan, right?).

Actually, I should finish downloading things off of itunes so I have something to do on the train ride. Maybe I should steal one of those little backpacks off one of the little kids. Hmm.

ION: My manager is back from vacation (yes, again - she gets 6 weeks of paid vacation a year), and the first thing she did was hit me upside the head and ask me what I was thinking to get myself burned.

She also feed me.

I ♥ my manager.

...That was the weirdest dream ever.

Apparently, I'm dreaming in AU's now. With bonus Mary-Sue.

I don't remember the full details, but the main gist of the dream was that MCR, FOB, PATD, Fraser, RayK, RayV and the Mag7 guys (ATF AU version) plus myself were all at a party at the X-Men mansion when aliens invaded.

Cue everyone who had been hesitant about everyone else finding out they were mutants (even though, you know, Professor X was right there the whole time - WTF brain) getting into fights and showing off their powers.

I was pryokinetic. FTW.

(Gerard could make things come to life by singing about them. Mikey could amplify others power/healer. I can't remember the others).

I woke up before the dream finished, and we were losing so I have no idea about the outcome of the dream.

In other news, last night I unplugged the modem/router before walking up to get a pizza mushroom cheese steak and cheese fries. By the time I got back, LJ was actually working. *g*

I also realized I can totally give [info - livejournal.com] sansets her birthday present in person. FTW. (Er, the physical present, not the fic recs).

Speaking of fic recs, hmmm. Delicious, why are you so stubborn. *facepalm*

(Also, why do I bother to read the comments to articles/blogs about games. JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE DOESN'T AGREE WITH YOU, OR HAPPENS TO BE STUBBORN ABOUT HIS/HER OPINION DOESN'T MEAN THEY ARE PMS'ING. THEY JUST MIGHT NOT REALLY LIKE SOMETHING. JERK).

I was kind of tempted to get an IJ in zeenell so I can link my general fannish email and everything together, but, eh - I've been monroe_nell for too long everywhere.

Except for when I'm not. *g*
