Holiday Cards [Nov. 19th, 2011|02:49 pm]
I know, I know. I never call, I never write. I just show up when I want things. (95% because wow, I have way to much stuff going on in my head. About everything. ugh).

Which, in this case, would be addresses. It's that time of the year when I ask for addresses from people who want holiday cards.

With, uh, the caveat that I am just a tad absentminded and prone to making up the cards and putting them in the envelopes and then not actually making it to the post office. *is awesome like that*

Er, that being said! Comment for cards! All comments will be screened.

Instead of me posting anything useful or, well, as useful as I ever get, let me tell you about the dream i had last night.

Last night, I dreamnt Ryan Ross was Mario. IT WAS THE MOST FRUSTRATING GAME OF MARIO IN MY LIFE. He kept getting bored and wandering off and DYING ON THE LAVA.

Then, he finally gets to the end of a level where he can fight pete!Bowser? And bowser jumps up to a platform and the words "i need to pee" appear on the screen. And then I woke up. and had to pee.

Thanks brain.

(NO, SERIOUSLY, I WOKE UP WANTING TO STRANGLE THE WORLD/PLAY MARIO. MOST. FRUSTRATING. GAME. EVER.)

Guys. I don't even know. What the fuck this city/country is doing.

Boston police were beating peaceful protesters and vets. They are taking all personal belongings and throwing them out. They are taking their badges and id numbers off.

It's city and state police and this is fucking ridiculous.

We aren't supposed to do this.

We are supposed to be better then this.

I've been watching a live feed here: http://www.livestream.com/occupyboston

And the only place i'm seeing any of this is on twitter. way to fail, news.

[Apr. 17th, 2011|12:53 am]
I keep on trying to to accomplish a post about allll the shenagains I've been up to in the past few weeks. Er.

Like how [personal profile] eledhwenlin flew out the (so, like, March 25th?) friday before MJ and I stockholmed her into Jesse Eisenberg. (He is, according to her, absolutely adorable).

Those people crazy enough to be following me on twitter, but also smart enough to be following her have all stated that it was hilarious watching her fall into the fandom.

By the way, she cooks fantastically and I owe her a meal. And hugs. Because THERE IS NEVER ENOUGH HUGS IN THE WORLD.

By Wednesday, I also had a [personal profile] sansets in my apartment. There was a lot of "your mom" jokes. And trolling each other on twitter while RIGHT next to each other. Literally next to each other in mine and [personal profile] sansets case.

Then. THEN MJ HAPPENED. There were panels! I went to a bunch. I had a blast. But first - a collection of things that occurred, as immortalized on my twitter, to the detriment of everyone I was with.

ALSO: [livejournal.com profile] omphale23 was a very smart cookie and made sure that the connecting rooms we had (1610/1612) WERE RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CON BLOCK. Rooms of fangirls above, below, right, left and across the hall from us is the only reason we didn't get noise complaints. Win!

(yes, these were all tweeted) )

Where was I? Right. So, I was rooming with [livejournal.com profile] elipie, [livejournal.com profile] likeaglass and [personal profile] etcetera_cat. We had connecting rooms with [personal profile] omphale, [personal profile] themeletor, [livejournal.com profile] tricksterquinn and [livejournal.com profile] mickeymvt. The door was open almost the whole time and there was much wandering back and forth.

The others in our 3 rooms of awesome were down the hall a bit, but were in and out of the rooms as well. As was, well, a good chunk of fangirls. Eledh and Set and I got to the hotel about 2-ish? and put our stuff down and immediately went for hugs from [personal profile] queue and [personal profile] spuffyduds. I also hunted down [personal profile] secretlybronte because she is awesome and I love her. Not nearly enough hanging out time with her. Or anyone else, really, but especially her.

Then, there was fangirl dinner at Cheesecake Factory (the one by the pru). It was awesome. (Er, even though we walked there from the hotel and Eli and I were all "it's really close." Apparently, the Boston idea of close and what other people think of as close are two different things?

There was good food and good company and good drinks - then, I went with Eli to her apartment to get speakers for the TSN viewing party on Friday. It was all the rain on us. Ugh.

Got back to the hotel, talked for forever to people. Eventually, we all decided to go to sleep, but FIRST we wanted to use the sleep number beds. So I got the remote and tried to make the bed a little softer. Nothing happened. Grabbed the other remote. Same thing. Then we were trying all the buttons, but nothing was happening. Besides poor sad [personal profile] etcetera_cat going "Uh, guys, I think I'm sinking?"

The remotes got confiscated and put into the nightstand, and then about 1230, Ecat went "my beds getting hard again. No, no, it's getting soft again." Turns out that that was when the 1612 folks were playing with their sleep number bed remotes.

The next day was the first official day of the con. It started off with an ice breaker. We ended up modifying the questions:

pics last longer )

After that, the panels started. They were FUN. I went to:

The fandom pimping panel wherein [livejournal.com profile] elipie and I pimped The Social Network. Well, and Jesse Eisenberg. I am still laughing from everyone's reactions to: "Those of you who look at my livejournal? I have a BIGGER crush on Jesse Eisenberg then on Bob Bryar."

The one on where everyone is going from LJ (twitter/tumblr/del/etc). It was interesting. ^_^

140 Characters or less: fandom and twitter (I found new celebs to follow - and we laughed at the ones who are doing twitter WRONG.) It was a lot of fun.

Then I skipped the rest of that days panels to hang out in the con suite. And then the internet died at the hotel. It was sad.

I then wandered to the 7-11 to get stuff for the mudslides I promised for the TSN viewing party in my room. Those mudslides were fantastic, btw. (Yes, yes I did bring a blender).

Then the vid show/dance party happened! I had a black water bottle. Filled with "water" (coke and cherry liquor. I had pepsi throwback and vanilla vodka in my messenger bag) as I not so convincingly told fangirls in the elevator. One of them ID'ed my accent based off of how I was water. Win.

The vid show was fantastic (and during the technical difficulties I bought drinks from the cash bar) and the dance party even more so. [personal profile] entropical and [personal profile] etcetera_cat and others all shared my bottle. and we danced a lot.

The song choices were as amazing as ever. Plus, nothing is more awesome then a bunch of fangirls dancing to cobra starship together. And Planetary GO! and. Ugh. AWESOME.

Then there was more fangirls in our rooms until, god, 3AM? I don't even know.

I woke up twice, finally straggled on out to the con suite only to find out that there was no coffee yet. Went to starbucks in a daze.

Went to Canon and Fanon in RPF and, uh, I don't even know - I was interested in the LOTRips stuff someone was talking about, but I was in such a daze.

Then I went back to the room and napped until lunch time. From there, bandom panel (where we got tiaras, boas and shutterglasses. AWESOME). AND had an awesome bandom retrospective. I'm just sad I missed the xover panel. Ugh. My one true lovesssss.

Then I went to the white collar panel, blurring genderlines (I wish it had been so much longer. so many awesome and thinky things were said in it). and then I went to the transformation panel. Even though I also really wanted to go to the moresomes one as well. Oh well.

I skipped out on Jacque's - I hung out with [livejournal.com profile] psuedo_catalyst and I read the really ridic prompts from the TSN kinkmeme out loud. Because I'm classy.

Then there was massive room party and I ended up wandering over to someones (aka's?) room where I flailed at [livejournal.com profile] lucifuge_5 about bandom for, oh, an hour and a half? I think? I need to finish that email of links for her.

Sunday and Monday, I pretty much just hung out with fangirls - mostly the same ones. I seem to follow [livejournal.com profile] omphale23 around like a lost duckling. *G* Somewhere in there (Sunday, I think), I managed to creep everyone out. I apparently have an evil laugh just like Brendon Urie's. Win?

Trudged across Boston with all my stuff on Monday night, then went to Pstump's concert on Tuesday (april 5th). It was amazing. He was amazing. We talked a little about star wars. Whoever says he is 5'4" is lying to you. He's tinier then I am, and I am 5'4". (Seriously, if you get a chance to see him, GO).

I'll post the pics I do have later *G*

I had the most awesome dream last night - which I shared with twitter. Dear twitter ppl - sorry?

apparently I just really want ryan back in patd? )

In other news - I found the complete series of Sports Night for $15 dollars. And I bought a bunch of books from barnes and noble. (2 copies of Good Omens - I'm sending one to my little sisters).

I am sort of bemused that Ryan Ross and Alex Greenwald are in a band together. I was just joking about having to buy a cd that consists of ukulele/cowbell/tambourine.... and yet. *snickers*

I am super excited for MJ - not least of all because I get to see alllll (almost all anyway) my favorite people.

Lastly - I keep on attempting that WIPs meme, but wow - I don't even know what I was thinking with some of them. (there's one that was apparently going to be a harry potter/due south xover - and not the one where Fraser raises harry. IDEK).

One little compliment can make you feel great. So give me a compliment, anything in the entire world, even that my shoelaces are pretty. Put this in your journal. Once you get some comments, put that entry in a memory or tag and when you are feeling down, just go to that entry and this will remind you how great you are.

Comments are going to be screened so none of you will know if I'm uber-popular, who gets over 100 comments on this, or who's a total loser and doesn't get any. Anonymous commenting is on.

The result of me pimping [livejournal.com profile] thisisthesmile into Leverage and White Collar (watching all of s1 and part of s2 of each) is that I had really excellent dreams the past two nights.

Friday into Saturday, I dreamt that Eliot rescued kittens. <3 It just made me smile allll day.

Saturday into Sunday, I dreamt that Eliot and Neal were dating. Eliot decided that he was going to introduce Neal to his 'family,' but for some reason, Peter showed up at whatever location.

So Neal sorta freaked out and went and locked himself into a closet. Then Eliot stood by the closet door trying to get Neal out between bouts of saying "Seriously, Neal, SERIOUSLY?"

Guys, I love when my brain dreams up crackfic. Also, I want that fic.

(And I need leverage icons, hmmm)

Before I take this to the comms -

I have an extra ticket to the panic concert in NYC on Feb 1st.

After convenience charges and whatnot, it's 24.14.

I would prefer paypal, but cash the day of is fine.

(It's a will call ticket, so you have to find me in the line or whatever for it).

Comments are not screened and the entry is not locked, FYI.

[livejournal.com profile] regyt asks why the world doesn't have a meme where everyone leaves screened comments with what they want to say to to the poster but haven't yet for whatever reason -- and I say, indeed, why not? So! Tell me anything you want me to know - about me, about you, about your mom, whatever you like.

Anonymous comments are enabled, and everything is screened. Tell me something you want to tell me, anonymously or not. If you say you want me to unscreen, I will, happily.

Then do the same, and I will tell you something!

So, the power has been back on for awhile now. I made chili and now I'm cleaning my room.

The line in the back that fell is most likely a comcast line - as we still have internets, it's not important at the moment.

OTOH, the USB ports on the rear of my desktop aren't working. It's a good thing that there's four on the front, or I'd be screwed. As it is, I'm making sad faces at my desktop.

Dear desktop, I love you. Why don't you love me?

(In other news, I worked about 10 hours yesterday. Because people go crazy when snow is forecast. I am still exhausted and I have to work 9 hours tomorrow. So glad I had off today).

12 Days of Christmas: Day Six [Dec. 31st, 2010|12:43 am]
[Tags|, , , , , , , ]
[music |One Week - Barenaked Ladies]

On the sixth day of Christmas, my true love brought to me: Some of my most favorite fics ever. Because I really don't want to poke through my del on a vague theme when I have to work tomorrow. Le sigh.

So Wise We Grow by [livejournal.com profile] captanddeastar is, hands down, one of my favorite fics of all time. It's Star Trek Reboot fic and it's kidfic and it is awesome.

Spock receives word that his ten year old son is one of the survivors of the destruction of Vulcan. Except, Spock doesn't have a son - which doesn't stop him from assuming custody of the child. Or for Kirk to start helping him to raise the child. Guys, what I feel for this fic is what I feel for Tango Makes Three. Several people will tell you that I try to get everyone to read that ALL the time.

It's brilliant and wonderful and everyone should read it. Multiple times.

Chimera by [livejournal.com profile] nymphaea1 is American Idol Season 8 fic. It's an AU where the Fae and humans colonized various bits of the USA - so it's a vastly different landscape. (Absolutely fascinating, but *handwaves*)

ANYWAY, Kris saves Adam's life and in return - Adam has to serve him for a year and a day. *chin hands* Such an awesome fic. *G*

Jeffrey Nullier's "Man With Fedora" by [personal profile] sam_storyteller is a White Collar fic.

It's a marvelously crafted fic where there is an art heist and bites Neal in the ass :-p

Ground Floor by [livejournal.com profile] entropical87 is OT3 White Collar snippet fic. (Elizabeth/Neal/Peter).

El instigates the three of them together.

Logical Absurdities by [personal profile] catwalksalone is NCIS Tony/McGee first time fic. (Personally, i think we should save us all the time of making me rec everything she writes and y'all should just read all of her fics).

Here is a secret nobody knows: Tony hates personal revelations, really hates them. He figures that if you know yourself badly enough to be blindsided by something that now seems achingly obvious, then you probably deserve the sleepless nights and metric tonne of sappy introspection that usually follow random epiphanies.

The Face of the Waters by [info]stele3 is a Ryan/Spencer (bandom) fic. It was written for [personal profile] sansets and me for [livejournal.com profile] help_haiti and is so much more then what we asked for.

It's a space!Au. And it's female!Spencer. And it's long and complicated and the worldbuilding is fantastic.

I keep trying to figure out how to explain or summarize this fic, but all I got are some wild gesticulations. *G* (Seriously, one of the best AU's I've ever seen).

12 Days of Christmas: Day Five [Dec. 30th, 2010|12:36 am]
[Tags|, , , , , , ]
[music |Heartless - Kris Allen]

On the fifth day of Christmas, my true love brought to me: fics about accidental/fake!marriage. What? It's a theme. *G* (Yes, I know it's a bit late. I didn't mean to take such a long nap this afternoon. *G*)

(...and after doing these, I realize I actually have a lot of accidental/fake!marriage type fics read to be rec'ced, so these are more the ones I reread/read recently).

Sacred Union by [livejournal.com profile] impertinence is a Leverage fic. Parker and Hardison have to pretend to be married for a con! This fic is hilarious and adorable. Parker has to pretend to be a suburban housewife. Stop and ponder that for a second.

That Promist Ayde the Tempest to Withstand by [livejournal.com profile] lyo and [livejournal.com profile] stephanometra is Brendon/Ryan. Ryan's father gets pissed at Ryan and talks to the High Queen of the Faerie, who decides to send Ryan to be the ambassador to the marsh Fae. Spencer intervenes and Ryan ends up married to Brendon. ♥_♥ I Love this fic.

Committing to Heart and Hospital by [personal profile] dancinbutterfly is a cute Mikey/Pete near-Au fic set during the Summer of Like. Instead of letting them be separated at the end of the tour, Pete proposes. *cuddles this fic* (And there's lots more in this 'verse, all are awesome).

You Should Learn how to Say No by [livejournal.com profile] poison_cherries. Guys, this fic makes me laugh. A lot. It's a Bob/Ray fic where they woke up married! (I love Bob/Ray fic. there should be more of it).

A Nice Day For by [livejournal.com profile] tigs is Brendon/Spencer. I, uh, should probably feel bad about rec'cing another fic by her the day after rec'cing one, but I don't. Also, I reread most of the fics today at work. (Instead of, you know, working).

ANYWAY, Spencer and Brendon are kind of pissed because Ryan tweeted that he'd gotten married but he hadn't invited either of them. So... they decided to get married in Iowa for revenge. (Oh boys!) It's a cute fic, really. I adore it.

12 Days of Christmas: Day four [Dec. 28th, 2010|09:34 pm]
[Tags|, , , , , , , , ]
[music |This is Halloween - Panic at the Disco]

On the fourth day of Christmas, my true love brought to me: an assortment of fic recs in different fandoms (okay, three are bandom and one is Life/Standoff).

A Fable About Bringing Home Strays by [livejournal.com profile] psuedo_catalyst. Full disclosure - She wrote this for me as a gift. ANYWAY. It's a cute little fic about Jon finding a kitten that Ryan ends up adopting. A vampire kitten. (What? I love all vampire kittens).

Basically, everyone should read it because it's adorable.

Snapshots From a Possible Future by [livejournal.com profile] tigs is one of my all-time favorite fics. It's a gen future fic where the different bands broke up amiably (Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, and Panic at the Disco), and Patrick is being a music producer. Spencer, Frank, one of Patrick's employees and Patrick end up just messing about with instruments. (And so much more). Seriously, this fic is marvelous.

A Presumption of Functionality (A Gas-Light Romance) by [livejournal.com profile] sunsetmog. I love this fic so much. It's a steampunk Brendon/Spencer fic set during the Napoleonic War. Brendon has a pet hedgehog! (I possibly keep requesting a pet hedgehog. Everyone says no. Shame on them).

ANYWAY, Spencer receives word of a scientist that could have an invention that would end the war, and he goes off to see him. However, all he finds is the inventors grandson. Shenanigans happen. *G*

If you like steampunk, you should love and adore this fic - Honestly, steampunk is one of my favorite things ever.

Cherry and Pineapple by [livejournal.com profile] ifreet is a Life/Standoff crossver fic. (Uhm. BASICALLY, 6 degrees of Band of Brothers would be the easiest and quickest explanation. Or... ask [livejournal.com profile] omphale23.

It's a short fic, but it's awesome for all of that - Matt and Charlie are dating, but Matt doesn't know and Charlie is waiting for him to figure it out. ♥

(No one ever said I was eloquent).

12 Days of Christmas: Day three [Dec. 26th, 2010|11:04 pm]
[Tags|, , , , , , , , , , ]
[music |A Beautiful Life - 30 Seconds to Mars]

On the third day of Christmas, my true love brought to me a ton of snow three crossover recs. *G*

(No, seriously, ALL THE SNOW in the world is falling. It's pretty. I think I'm calling out of work tomorrow, though).

I used to Live Alone Before I Knew You by [livejournal.com profile] etothepii is a sherlock bbc/Good Omens fusion, and it is simply marvelous. Sherlock is a demon, Mycroft is an Angel, and John is John.

I laughed my way through this fic - simply delightful.

The Way I was Made is by [livejournal.com profile] hackthis and is a Superman Returns/Smallville/Teen Titans crossover. I kind of really adore this fic. And by adore, I mean, I reread it about once every three months or so. Basically, everyone should read this if they haven't. And if they have, they should reread it.

Can't Wait Until the Morning Has Come by [livejournal.com profile] spuffyduds is a due South/BTVS crossover, and is simply wonderful - as is Spuffy. Fraser and RayK are in Chicago, but aren't together - and RayK finds Oz in a van, handcuffed. And that's not the strangest thing that happens. (No, seriously, go and read it. It's delightful).

12 Days of Christmas: Day two [Dec. 25th, 2010|02:03 pm]
[Tags|, , ]
[music |This Christmas Day - Trans-Siberian Orchestra]

On the second day of Christmas, my true love brought to meeee - two American Idol RPS fics...

(That is actually kind of a mouthful, isn't it?)

Anyway, the fics are from two different seasons, but both are brilliantly awesome *G*

Time of your Life by [livejournal.com profile] astolat is from season seven (so is David/David), and is absolutely brilliant. It makes me giggle like a loon. Most especially the scene where everyone figures out Cook had a foursome with some groupies. (It's by Astolat. You know it's good. Go and read even if it's not your fandom).

(This is) Not a Statement by [personal profile] seperis is from Season 8 - Kris Allen/Adam Lambert. It's incredible and (most) everyone should read it. *G*

Uhm. There is mention/discussion of off-screen sexual harassment and sexual assault if that's triggery, though

"I really need to cultivate an interest in football." Adam thinks about it. "I bet now you're going to tell me that initiation didn't have public spankings either and totally fuck up my fantasy life."

Kris bites his lip, color blooming hot across both cheeks. Adam watches, fascinated, as Kris pretends to watch the ocean. "Wow," he breathes in surprise. "Happy birthday to me."

(What, it makes me laugh. A lot. No one ever said I had a sophisticated sense of humor).

[music |White Christmas - Brendon Urie]

So, apparently, my Christmas gift to my flist will be fic recs. Yes, this means that most likely, there will be 12 days of fic recs (It depends on how long my attention span lasts, sadly enough). It also means that the number of fics rec'ced each day will grow, starting off with the one fic for today. For the BBC Sherlock fandom. (Dear BBC Sherlock, I <3 you)

Without further ado -

Four times John had to erase his voicemail because of Sherlock and one time it was the other way round. by [livejournal.com profile] wihluta This fic makes me laugh so much! It's cute and well-written, and I absolute adore it. Which, uh, I should actually say. Does kudos count as leaving feedback? *ponders*

However you look at it, you should definitely go and read this. It's awesome ^_^

In the continuing adventures of 'Dear brain - why are you so wacky', my dream last night was awesome.

It was a really strange AU of the American revolutionary war - but not at the same time. People talked like they did in the 18th century, but the clothes were sort of Starfleet uniformish.

There was a rebellion in the colonies due to the absolutely horrid way the colonist were being treated - taxed into poverty with substandard schools while the people in the motherland were pretty much enjoying a very high quality of life - as long as they weren't the low class families, who had a slightly better way of life then the colonists (yellow shirts - led by Spock).

ANYWAY, the Red shirts (led by Kirk and McCoy - IDEK*infinity) were sent (on little personal hovercars - takes about 3 days to cross the ocean, IDEK) to the colonies to see about taking down the rebellion.

The Red shirts are all 0.o about the situation in the colonies and want to make a treaty, but a section of the yellow shirts didn't want peace at all and undermined the talks.

And then the red shirts had to evacuate and there is an epic chase involving dramatic "nooooos" as someone's hovercar is shot down. And the city of atlantis that randomly pops up to float around for a while - there's mist and little islands and weird magical creatures - pretty awesome.

But the red shirts and the yellow shirts both land at the motherland (which had, like, 20 letters and most of them were Q, Z, and X). Jim and Spock race to the top of the tower where the Council meets to find the Chancellor - whomever got there first wins. Jim got there first, but the chancellor was in a different room, and both Spock and Jim raced to the new room. Except, the bad yellow shirts had caught up to them and there was stuff being thrown in their path (bad yellow shirts) so they could get to the chancellor - something about a magic orb. IDEK.

Spock and Jim get to the chancellor and the Chancellor surprises Spock by looking at Jim and going "Your Highness, such a pleasure to see you." (Which is when I 'found' out who the yellow shirt and red shirt leaders were - Dream logic, wtf)

Then Jim and Spock dealt w/the bad ppl after Jim promises Spock that he will do anything to make sure all of the citizens have the same quality of life - w/the bonus of Jim taking SPock to his mother, who is dressed incognito and teaching at a school w/very impoverished children.
